Western Michigan

Nurse of the Year Award

This is to acknowledge and thank you for being such a fierce advocate for your community members, their families and your team. With your strong emphasis on delivering a higher standard of care, you successfully manage between two Vista Springs communities, Vista Springs Riverside Gardens and Vista Springs Northview Royal Hideaway Resort, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, ensuring our "Full of Life" mission is delivered at the highest standards every day. At the forefront of the COVID-19 battle, you’ve also continued to remain diligent and meticulous on infection control and safety that has saved the lives of staff and community members and their families.

Your unwavering commitment and dedication to Vista Springs is what makes you the Nurse of the Year! You are a superior leader and trainer and have made the Vista Springs community environment a safe and friendly place to work. It’s remarkable to see how you’ve continued to provide so much needed support for the families of those we serve and those of our staff recently during the most difficult of times.

Your team recognizes how you are always one of the first to jump in when there is a difficult situation with any management team leader or other teams to help: regardless if it is moving furniture, helping in dining, or jumping into a Life Experience event.

You are the ultimate team player who is always willing to go the extra mile! Now you have further distinguished yourself battling COVID-19 which has been without a doubt the most challenging experience that the Management and Health & Wellness team at Vista Springs ever faced. Waging war against this deadly virus has deeply affected each and every one of our lives both professionally and personally. There are no words to describe how you provided leadership and support to instill a team with so much commitment, dedication, compassion and perseverance during an unprecedented Pandemic, Healthcare emergency and humanitarian crisis.

While we all combated this unseen enemy there were certain Elite Performers among us, like you, whose selfless acts that occurred daily in our Wellness operations to ensure that our community members and employees were kept safe and protected, and always their wants and needs were meet and/or exceeded without hesitation every moment of the day, safely, expertly and professionally such that not one life was lost on their watch and valiant march towards a cure.

Elite Performers of our COVID-19 Heroes of Healthcare team at Vista Springs risked their lives every day and not one life was lost on your team or of a community member served.

We acknowledge your courage, spirit and bravery which did not only save lives, but your fight against all odds gave so many people around you the strength to draw upon that all Vista Springs team members became their best selves and persisted through the fears, anxieties and losses that everywhere else in the world were causing so much pain, suffering and death.

The world ahead will be shaped by your bold acts of courage and the most remarkable difference overtime will be in the knowledge that it takes an everyday hero to save the world, change lives for the better, and create a real sense of humanity where everyone puts their authentic selves into helping one another.

Nikki Wadsworth, LPN

Nurse of the Year Award • Ohio

We all appreciate your thirty years of dedicating your heart and soul to the happiness, wellness and safety of those you’ve served as a licensed nursing professional throughout the community-based healthcare continuum. In recent years we’ve witnessed firsthand at Vista Springs Ravinia, Independence, Ohio, how you’ve spent long days as the Health & Wellness Officer and other nursing leadership and training positions to help our entire community thrive and become "Full of Life."

We’ve seen you develop highly-effective plans for mitigating risk for the flu season and execute them expertly, prepare and achieve perfect annual State surveys, and successfully implement performance improvement programs, and at the same time, selflessly work extra shifts at any time of day as a direct patient caregiver, medicine treatment professional, or as a specialized dementia care worker, even staying at the community overnight when it was a needed practice to reassure families that there loved one’s were safe and protected and new staff had extra oversight and support.

Our community members, families, and staff are always letting us know how much they admire and appreciate you, not just for your leadership and nursing skills, but for how kind and positively motivating you are to everyone, as we strive to make all who live or work at Vista Springs happier and healthier every moment of day. Most often mentioned is how you are always enthusiastic and available to meet with the families and address any clinical care or service concern that they may have. You are trusted by everyone to consistently deliver our Brand Promise, nursing care, and staff training in ways that create a meaningful and positive experience for those we are honored to serve.

Now you have further distinguished yourself battling COVID-19 which has been without a doubt the most challenging experience that the Management and Health & Wellness team at Vista Springs ever faced. Spirit of Caring Award

Over the past year you have been an amazing asset for Vista Springs Greenbriar Village in Parma, Ohio. Thank you for stepping up to do dual roles so many times over the years when we experienced senior management vacancies on the Health & Wellness team. You have been a Servant Leader – caring for the community members, their families and supporting all staff. You’ve always done more than your share and no job was too big or too small for you to handle dependably, with passion, and assuring quality excellence at the highest standards.

During the most recent annual State Survey, under your direct leadership, Greenbriar Village had ZERO deficiencies (a Perfect Survey) in all clinical and residential care areas which was the first time we ever achieved that status, and with the highest level of occupancy, acuity, and number of employees .

You’ve handled staff training, compliance and scheduling issues tirelessly, often yourself working back to back shifts, working 14 days without a break on one occasion when staff needed support, and covering overnights and weekends when staff needed further assessment and evaluation. Our Wellness team has grown under exponentially with your leadership and watching your spirit of caring example.

Now you have further distinguished yourself battling COVID-19 which has been without a doubt the most challenging experience that the Management and Health & Wellness team at Vista Springs ever faced.
